Cambridge ESOL is a department of the University of Cambridge, which has a world-wide reputation for outstanding academic achievement and the high quality of research undertaken in a wide range of science and arts subjects. Founded in Stockholm, Sweden in 1989, has grown to become the leader in Legal English products and services with the largest in-house staff of lawyer-linguists in the world. ’s Legal English testing and training materials, including online Legal English courses and resources, are used by tens of thousands of lawyers and law students around the world each year.

In cooperation with the Boston University School of Law, the Boston University Center for English Language and Orientation Programs, and Cambridge University Press, has also created PLEAD (Program for Legal English Academic Development).

   

PLEAD is an academic program to help law faculties and language schools provide Legal English training to law students and lawyers throughout the world. PLEAD has been developed using a ‘blended learning’ approach which combines live instruction based on the best-selling coursebook, International Legal English, authored by , and online self-study courses.
